Sharon Reynolds Physiotherapist, MCSP (GradDipPhys)
I qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist in 1990 from the North London School in Highgate. Having spent 6 years gaining experience within the NHS in a variety of clinical areas, I moved into private practice.
I was lucky enough to be part of the UK Athletics team, firstly as a competing athlete and then as part of the Medical Team.
Helped by the skills of some of the best manual therapists in the country, I developed an increasing interest in muscle and joint pain, sports injuries, whiplash and traumatic injury, Pilates-based rehab and pain relief acupuncture.
Through continued professional training, I now teach acupuncture/dry needling regularly across the therapies, with a special interest in chronic low back pain.
I enjoy the challenge of successfully diagnosing a problem and taking a clear and focused approach to clearing it. I like to encourage patients to be part of that process, by gaining a good understanding of their body mechanics and learning how to improve this.
Hilary North Holistic Therapist ITEC Dip Sports Therapy, VTCT Dip Swedish and Indian Head Massage
Hilary has been practising massage in various forms since 2004.
These include Swedish and Indian Head massage, Sports and Hot Stone therapy.
Sports massage;
A deeper more intense treatment relating to specific injuries or conditions such as 'frozen' shoulder or sciatica. Involves the use of therapist's forearms and elbows to produce more pressure combined with Swedish style massage and some stretching techniques to increase power and flexibility and aid recovery. Treatments are tailored to meet individual's needs.
Hot Stone Therapy;
An ancient treatment is proving extremely popular and involves the use of smooth water-heated basalt stones covered in oil. The therapist is able to reach ten times deeper into the soft tissue, making the treatment more intense, but less rigorous than Swedish or Sports Massage. As with other forms of massage the body is encouraged to relax, detox and heal.
Hilary also offers Acupressure Massage which is a way of accessing and releasing blocked or congested energy centres within the body. Acupressure is related to Acupuncture, but does NOT involve the use of needles. The practitioner uses their hands, thumbs, forearms and elbows to release the blocked energy in the body, by applying pressure directly over one or several acupressure points, whilst the client remains seated and fully-clothed. Acupressure can help reduce some kinds of physical and emotional conditions, but is not recommended during pregnancy or for those with low blood pressure.
