On your first visit your chiropractor will ask about your problem, medical and health history. They will also carry out a detailed examination which includes orthopaedic and neurological tests. Following the examination you will be given a report of our findings where your diagnosis is explained to you in detail so that you fully understand the cause of your problem. If your problem is suitable for chiropractic treatment your chiropractor will also recommend a package of care designed to meet your needs.
If your chiropractor identifies an underlying condition for which other treatment is appropriate you will be referred to another specialist.
Chiropractic treatment mainly involves safe, often gentle, specific spinal manipulation to free joints in the spine or other areas of the body that are not moving properly. Apart from manipulation, our chiropractors may use a variety of techniques including ultrasound, dry needling and prescribed exercises as well as advice about posture and lifestyle.
Your initial visit will include:
- A private consultation with a chiropractor
- A thorough examination including orthopaedic and neurological tests
- A confidential report of our findings
- A recommended treatment plan if we determine chiropractic can help you
- A letter to your GP outlining our consultation and treatment plan (if consent given)
- A referral to the appropriate specialist if we determine chiropractic cannot help you
